The Basics

Battle nights are on Sunday Nights from 4pm – 7pm. You will need to sign up before the matches begin, for information on locations and where this will be held, please consult the Facebook group at https://www.facebook.com/groups/warcrywangaratta/.
To participate in the battle nights there is a $8 fee, the first game is free for new players, spectating is completely free and if you don't have a LARP regulation weapon or want to borrow armour you can rent some for $2.
First time participants will have to undergo basic training with a one-handed sword, to make sure they can participate in a safe manner and are not going to injure others or themselves, for individuals to use other weaponry, they will need to be signed off and qualified to use them by an official before they can be used on field.
To participate you must be at least 15 years old, any participant that is under the age of 18 and wishes to take part in combat must have written parental/guardian consent, this form can be acquired from an official.
Make sure to bring plenty of water for breaks.

New players

All new players begin with “newbie protection” for the first 3 sessions, this sets your total hit point to 7, you will not get any extra hit points from clothing or armour, you can still acquire HP bonuses from warband moral and musical bonuses, this allows you plenty of time to acquire armour or clothing to gain hit points.

Rules and Safety

Weapon and armour inspections

All weaponry and armour need to be inspected at the equipment desk before
they can be used in a match, these are to check if the core of the weapon is
intact and if the armour is safe to be hit by weaponry or if it will injure others.
These safety standards must follow Warcry’s standards and not other LARP
groups.

Strike zones and hit points

Successfully landing a hit on an opponent will deal a certain amount of
damage to them based on where you hit them.

Red zones

These are no hit zones; these areas are deemed too dangerous and do not
deal any damage to hit a person in that location. These locations are the hands, feet, groin and anywhere above the collarbone.

Blue zones

Hitting an opponent in the blue zone, which is anywhere on the torso or back
that is above the hip and below the collarbone, counts as 3 points of damage.

Green zones

Hitting an opponent in the Green Zone deals 1 point of damage
These areas of the arms and legs, between wrist and shoulder and from above the ankle to the thigh.

Strike Zones

Headshots

If you approach a ranged fighter, you must give them a moment to safely remove their ranged weapon from conflict if they choose to avoid damage it or ask them to yield.

Running

Running is strictly forbidden on the field (both feet off the ground at the same time). You can move at a fast pace but strictly no running.

Ducking

Ducking/crouching must be avoided as much as possible as it could cause injury to yourself.

No Hit Players

Some individuals with health issues will still compete but will be classified as “no hits” meaning you do not hit them. Instead you level your weapon at them and ask “do you yield” when within striking distance. Shooting them with ranged weaponry is allowed.

What you Need

For new players please make sure to bring:

a bottle of water (we do provide if people forget), baggy clothes, such as track pants and a logoless shirt preferably,
proper footwear, such as enclosed shoes or ones with straps.

Apart from that your first session will be free and we will provide training on the spot in the how to use a single-handed weapon.

We do provide weaponry for you to use and would recommend that your first weapon that you purchase if you wish is also a single-handed weapon, for recommendations on where to buy weaponry than please feel free to ask one of the official's on the night.
